The first part of our process in making disciples is Plant the Gospel. The word "gospel" simply means "good news." The good news that we strive to plant in the minds and hearts of people in Plant City is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to the world as a human being, lived perfectly, died on a cross, and rose from the dead to set us free from the ultimate slavery to Satan, an angel who rebelled against God in heaven and brought that rebellion, called sin, into the world and into our lives. The Bible tells us that "everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard." (Romans 3:23, NLT). But, in Jesus Christ, we are set free from that captivity to sin! "Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins." Because of Jesus Christ, we have the greatest opportunity ever afforded us: to live with God forever when He returns to take us to be with Him (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
Here are the ministries the church uses to accomplish the planting of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Click on the links provided for any further information or to find out how you can be involved!
We are made for friendship! Friendship Ministries exists to create social opportunities for our community. Our "First Connections Team," "Eating In" meals and snacks, "Game Night" and "Community Party" events are designed to help people get to know people... the best way to create opportunities to plant the gospel!
We desire to serve people as Jesus did when He was on earth. In fact, the motto of "weSERVE" is BE Jesus. We are a "Vounteer Hub," directing people to where they can help in the community. Our "Community Services" and "Mobile Meals" program ministers to people in need throughout our area.
We conduct a network of small groups with the intent of educating people on how, through following Biblical principles and practices, they can live better lives. We offer the following: "Financial Peace University," "CREATION Health," "Help! I'm a Parent!" (tracks available for parents with children of all ages), "Sunday Scrappers" (quilting), and "The Music Connection" (with group lessons available for keyboard and guitar).
